Love hearing these songs from the 60's not thinking about the looks of women in the 60's and the make up, I now look at Bobbie Gentry and feel she didn't need the eyelashes that she wore back in that era. Her beauty alone was more than the make up did for her. Just my Opinion, not a slam on Bobbie just observing how much has changed since that era

  2. What happened to Bobbie GENTRY? I'm no wiser from your video sadly. I adored her and her music late 60s. What I remember was that she stopped making music when she married a rich Greek who used to beat her up. She divorced him. That must have been early or mid 70s and I haven't heard anything of her since. Hope she's alive and happy. One beautiful sensual Lady.

  3. I love how Bobby Gentry pretty much said she doesn't know what Billy Joe threw off the bridge and it doesn't matter. The song is about indifference and the different family member's reactions to his death. There is also a theme of the narrator and mom sharing a common loss but being unable to recognize it.
